Senator John McCain today congratulated his former running mate Sarah Palin on Twitter. The reason? Her performance on the Today Show today, one of few “lamestream” media appearances the former Alaska Governor can honestly call successful. Palin agreed to be co-host on the same day as Katie Couric filled in on ABC’s Good Morning America – a brilliant PR move by NBC, which also gave Palin a chance to get back at Couric who had the audacity back in 2008 to ask the VP candidate which papers she read, a memorably embarrassing moment for the McCain campaign….
Meet the Candidates: Game Change
This Saturday sees the HBO premiere of the TV movie Game Change, starring Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, Ed Harris as John McCain and Woody Harrelson as Steve Schmidt. Chronicling the former Alaska Governor’s journey from Juneau to the national spotlight, the movie is based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s widely celebrated account of the 2008 presidential race. The trailer above promises to paint an undeniably unflattering portrait of Palin as a politician…

George W. Bush Impersonator Dies
The annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner is usually criticized for the all too chummy relationship between journalists and politicians… but this is one of its highlights. In 2006, Steve Bridges appeared alongside President George W. Bush, acting as his brain, and knocked it out of the park. This is hilarious, and shows Bush at his self-deprecating best…

Bill O'Reilly Really Likes Ellen DeGeneres
Aaahh, this is heart-warming! Retailer chain JC Penney recently hired Ellen DeGeneres, the nation’s best daytime talk-show host, as a spokeswoman and was immediately attacked by One Million Moms, which is part of American Family Association. Both of these organizations are extreme entities, to put it mildly. I’m sure JC Penney will stay true to their contract with Ellen, especially since conservative talk show host Bill O’Reilly has come out in favor of her…

A Yuletide countdown, one clip a day. A look back on scenes, movies and TV shows that make you want to go dashing through the snow.
“We work for Santa and have a lot of fun! With a heigh-heigh-ho and a heigh-heigh-hey! We’d better hurry up, tomorrow’s Christmas Day!”
The final chapter of this Christmas calendar takes us to the North Pole where Santa and his little merry men are busy preparing for the greatest day of the year. This Silly Symphonies short from 1932 has been accused of racism in the past, but that’s hardly a defining characteristic…

“Catherine, if this turkey tastes half as good as it looks, I think we’re in for a treat.”
As this Christmas calendar is about to wrap up, we’re headed for Chicago where the Griswolds are having Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, the turkey might be a bit dry. One of many hilarious scenes from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), the best of the series…

“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.”
This calendar journeys to Indiana – and a nostalgic look at the 1940s. Every kid wants a special gift for Christmas, desperately. In little Ralphie’s (Peter Billingsley) case, it’s a Red Ryder BB Gun with a compass and a sundial…
